Randomness in Generative Audiovisual Creative Processes in the Experimental Field: An Approach from Creation and Curatorship
The current creative processes of contemporary audiovisual art, with their constant pursuit of rupture and provocation as a path towards avant-garde art, are continually broadening the scope and hybrid nature of artistic creation. This is increasingly connected to the growing role of synesthesia in digital perception, across both the visual and the sonic, amplified through simultaneous sensory experiences that enhance the dynamism of contemporary audiovisual expression within the field of digital multimedia. These processes are inherently connected to the symbiosis between the artificial and the real, a recurring approach employed by video artists and filmmakers for decades and continuing to the present day. This reinforces experimentation and transgression as essential components of creative inquiry. Such processes must also be directly addressed through curatorial practice, not only from a conceptual and formal perspective, but also in relation to emerging forms of narrative transformation, intertwined with randomness. Randomness is one of the elements implicit in computer-based generative creative processes involving AI, enabling new contributions to disruptive thinking, reflection, and conceptual perspectives. It opens up new forms of transgressive language through the diverse tools provided by technological media, particularly within digital art as a means of transforming image and sound. These processes contribute to and promote new aesthetic directions in contemporary audiovisual expression, crossing boundaries towards new forms of transgression between human and machine, time and space, and the real and the artificial, within the emerging era of the posthuman.
