A/R/TOGRÁFICA Muestra Internacional de Videonarración, nace con la idea de visibilizar y ofrecer nuevos puntos de vista en el emergente territorio de la investigación y la pedagogía audiovisual, especialmente aquella que se preocupa por la enseñanza y la investigación en el ámbito de las Artes Visuales y la Educación Artística. Este evento organizado desde la Universidad de Granada, que desde 2014 aglutina en su programación encuentros, exhibiciones y laboratorios experimentales, pone de manifiesto la necesidad de generar un contexto fértil para la visibilización y estudio de estas obras, así como un espacio estratégico para establecer redes y conexiones entre investigadores, artistas y docentes, y otros espacios de exhibición y debate centrados en la imagen en movimiento.
En A/R/TOGRÁFICA tienen cabida todos los proyectos de investigación artística que desarrollan narrativas audiovisuales sean o no a/r/tográficas, pero son estas últimas las que más nos interesan. Por este motivo, en el contexto de la muestra surge la denominación A/r/tography Films; una idea y también una llamada de atención sobre el origen de este tipo de obras: formas audiovisuales ensayísticas adscritas a la metodología a/r/tográficaque son en sí mismas una forma de indagación, un experimento formativo y una creación artística audiovisual. Muchas de estas creaciones justifican su propia génesis reflexiva, esto es, son autorreferenciales, por lo que las A/r/tography Films suponen un modelo de dinámica relacional cuyo objetivo principal es indagar cómo aprendemos audiovisualmente. En suma, son un conjunto de filmografías y proyectos de experimentación audiovisual vinculados a la investigación artística y a la metodología a/r/tográfica, enmarcados en las Investigaciones basadas en Artes.
Las A/r/tography Films ponen de relieve la necesidad de una organización y categorización de las distintas técnicas e instrumentos de investigación audiovisual surgidos y aplicados desde el ámbito de las Investigaciones A/r/tográficas, así como de sus distintas tipologías y narrativas. Sin dicha denominación ese tipo de filmes quedarían relegados a las categorías habituales de cine experimental, cine de ensayo, videoarte e incluso cine o video documental. Por lo tanto, desde A/R/TOGRÁFICA creemos necesario comenzar a delimitar este nuevo marco de acción, que unifica distintas perspectivas, estrategias y métodos audiovisuales experimentados desde hace décadas en el entorno de la formación y la investigación audiovisual pero que ahora cobran un significado relevante a tenor de las nuevas tecnologías y metodologías docentes, así como de las nuevas perspectivas en la investigación artística.

A/R/TOGRÁFICA International Exhibition of Video Narratives was conceived with the aim of making visible and offering new perspectives on the emerging field of audiovisual research and pedagogy, particularly those concerned with teaching and research in the fields of Visual Arts and Art Education. Organized by the University of Granada since 2014, the event brings together meetings, exhibitions, and experimental laboratories within its program. It highlights the need to create a fertile context for the visibility and study of these works, as well as a strategic space for establishing networks and connections among researchers, artists, educators, and other exhibition and discussion spaces focused on the moving image.
A/R/TOGRÁFICA welcomes all artistic research projects that develop audiovisual narratives, whether or not they are a/r/tographic, although the latter are of particular interest to us. For this reason, the term A/r/tography Films emerged within the context of the exhibition: an idea and, at the same time, a call for attention to the origins of this type of work. These are essayistic audiovisual forms grounded in a/r/tographic methodology that are themselves a form of inquiry, a formative experiment, and an audiovisual artistic creation. Many of these works reflect upon and justify their own genesis; that is, they are self-referential. A/r/tography Films therefore constitute a model of relational dynamics whose main objective is to explore how we learn audiovisually. In short, they comprise a body of filmographies and audiovisual experimentation projects linked to artistic research and a/r/tographic methodology, situated within the framework of Arts-Based Research.
A/r/tography Films highlight the need to organize and categorize the various audiovisual research techniques and instruments that have emerged and been applied within the field of A/r/tographic Research, as well as their different typologies and narratives. Without such a designation, these films would be relegated to the conventional categories of experimental cinema, essay film, video art, and even documentary film or video. Therefore, at A/R/TOGRÁFICA, we believe it is necessary to begin defining this new field of action, one that brings together different audiovisual perspectives, strategies, and methods that have been experimented with for decades in the contexts of audiovisual education and research, but which now acquire renewed significance in light of new technologies and teaching methodologies, as well as new perspectives in artistic research.
